Dear
Georgia Toastmasters:
As we approach the
end of this year, I reflect back on a year of real excellence.
I have been privileged to meet some of the finest people,
who just happen to be Toastmasters. When I have visited
your clubs or seen you at contests or conferences, I have
been so impressed by your kindness and desire to be the
best Toastmasters you can be.
Some individuals have
overcome personal challenges that would stop the faint
of heart, but all kept excellence in the forefront. Some
of our clubs have been on the brink of closing, but because
of some dedicated Toastmasters, those clubs have come
back to life and are now strong and healthy clubs. We
have lost 25 clubs this year. This means some incredible
efforts were required of many of our Area and Division
Governors to grow and enrich their Areas and Divisions.
Nevertheless, they all kept an eye on excellence, never
giving up and we have chartered clubs to fill the spaces
left open.
Now we look to the
future. I urge each of you to submit your education awards,
so your club can benefit. If you have not notified Toastmasters
International who your new officers are, please do so
before June 30. That’s this year’s gift to
next year because it is the first step in achieving Distinguished
Club goals. Also, please register for officer training
(Toastmasters Leadership Institute) at www.gatoastmasters.org.
Look for special registration incentives when you register
for TLI. Ensuring that your officers are trained is another
gift to your club. Register today!
And speaking of gifts,
by allowing me to serve as your District Governor since
last July 1, you have given me the greatest gift, one
that will hold a special place in my heart in the years
to come. Thank you for the honor and pleasure of serving
as your District Governor. |
